ΤΚΕ/ΔΤΤ
Since 1960
On August 14, 2000 the brothers lost recognition from their national, but were re-chartered on April 4, 2002. National allowed re-colonization after such a brief period (standard is five years) due to "strong alumni support and undergraduate dedication."
In 2005 the brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity "declared their independence and evolved" into Delta Tau Tau Fraternity.
In the fall of 2013 12 Clarkson students re-founded the Iota Kappa colony of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Today, some alumni of the original TKE identify with Delta Tau Tau, some identify with the re-colonized TKE, and some identify with both organizations.

i find it very interesting that the DTT crest is stepping on a skull when on TKE crest the skull is on the top ... ever wonder.
ReplyDeleteI do believe that it's holding the skull in it's talon, not stepping on it. In a way, they're carrying on from where they left of as TKE as opposed to totally leaving their TKE history behind them
DeleteRegarding the statement: "Today some alumni of the original TKE identify with Delta Tau Tau, and some identify with the re-colonized TKE."
ReplyDeleteSome alumni identify with both.
On April 9th, 2016, Iota-Kappa was re-chartered at Clarkson University.
ReplyDeleteIt was a sad day in history for the brother of the REAL Iota Kappa chapter!
DeleteNone identify with both.
ReplyDeleteIt would be accurate to say, some alumni identify with neither; but no alumni identify with both.
ReplyDeleteDTT was never recognized by Clarkson and was never affiliated with TKE International fraternity. DTT should be removed from the TKE page and put on its own page. My understanding is it consisted of a few people who refused to stop hazing and accept the consequence of their behavior.
